MEET LANG

Lang served for 20 years as a District and Circuit Judge in the 28th Judicial Circuit, covering Baldwin County, Alabama, including the last 2 years as Presiding Judge. When Lang decided to retire from the bench in December 2016, he immediately began his ADR practice.  He currently manages a statewide mediation practice from his hometown of Fairhope, Alabama, mediating hundreds of cases and claims involving the same issues he heard as a judge.

During his years as a circuit trial judge, Lang presided over thousands of civil cases, including over 200 jury trials and 750 non-jury trials, with some of the more complex civil litigation cases in Alabama's 28th Judicial Circuit. Many of the trials included catastrophic injuries involving products liability, medical malpractice, construction defects, vehicular accidents, municipal liability, condominium and home owners’ associations construction defect claims and commercial and general litigation cases. Since 2017, Lang has mediated hundreds of cases involving the same issues he heard as a judge, with a settlement rate in excess of 75%. In 2021, Lang became a fellow in the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. He is also a member of the Alabama Academy of Attorney Mediators.
